Located 53 miles southwest of Goldfield (go west at Scotty's Junction off U.S. Hwy. 95). The attractions at this 1,153-acre park are old and really old: a 1900s ghost town and the remains of the world's largest ichthyosaurs (marine reptiles that lived 225 million years ago). The original 14 buildings are considered to be the best preserved in the state. As for the fossils, nine large ones have been left in the ground exactly as they were. found.

A small town museum that runs entirely on the efforts of volunteers, the Lyon County Museum does an excellent job of depicting the day-to-day life in both the Mason and Smith Valleys over the last 130 years. The museum’s collections can be found in seven separate structures, including three historic county schools, a general store, a blacksmith shop and the new E.L. Wiegand building.
